For my first recipe blog let's start as we mean to go on...SWEET! I used to really love baking growing up and it's a hobby I want to get back into. My presentation is usually a 3/10 at best but I'd like to think I score high on taste so I must be getting something right!
I dipped my toe back in at the deep end with the photographed chocolate roulade which was light, fluffy and the perfect amount of sweet and then I went for a baked chocolate swirl cheesecake. The swirl did not work out but my goodness this was the creamiest, yummiest cheesecake ever. Maybe next week I'll try something non-chocolate!!
A cook along video for these bakes will be on my Tik Tok feed from 16 July 2024 and saved under the British Baking Show playlist but if you'd prefer to follow a book you can buy it from Amazon here - I'll keep doing recipes from this one because it's got SO many I want to try (and Mary Berry is a legend).
I'm also starting a series/playlist on Tik Tok called 'what's for tea' ...where I'm from dinner is more commonly known as tea and I want to start hearing what my American community are eating day to day to inspire me to venture away from my British recipes - although I know you guys seem to love my food too and hopefully I'm proving that we do NOT eat bland! I'll be sharing a slow cooker chicken korma this week that takes all of about 60 seconds to prepare and is a regular favourite in our house. You can find the recipe in my favourite slow cooker book on Amazon here - I modify to half the liquid because of the difference in chicken liquid content here in the US (even organic). Don't forget to comment what you're having for your tea! Maybe I'll attempt yours next week!
